MONOGRAMThis is the monogram of the lady who owned Clovelly and its surroundings in the last century. She saved and restored many of the buildings and this is her mark. It says "CFH " meaning They were built for the horses that pulled the Post Office stage coach that took the mail from London to Hartland. The coach stopped at the top of the cobbles for the tired horses to be changed for a new team. Other bus companies used the stables too - their tired horses would be changed if the coach was going on to Bude. There were many visitors from the USA on this route.
